Sonos has recently announced that after May 2020, no further updates will be issued for some legacy products released between 2005 and 2011.
This doesn’t mean these products will stop working.
Rather, this decision has been made to allow the company to introduce new features into the Sonos platform which can’t be implemented on these older products due to physical limitations of the hardware. New products such as the Sonos One support popular features like Airplay 2, and Amazon Alexa, which have only been possible with the addition of new parts into the hardware platform.
Should you wish to take advantage of these new features, Sonos is offering a very generous 30% trade in on legacy equipment – please contact us if you would like to discuss your options.
If you’re happy with your Sonos system as is, then no action is required. Just keep using Sonos as normal.
